Messages and notifications
How Kelasi keeps everyone informed: direct and group messages, the notification bell, emails and the daily digest, and how to choose what you receive.
Messages
Messages is a private chat with anyone in your organization: a student asking a teacher a question, a teacher and an admin, or a small group.
- New message (or press C) and pick people, grouped by Teachers, Admins, Staff and Students.
- Enter sends; Shift Enter adds a line.
- Reply to a specific message, Edit or Delete your own, and attach files.
- You can see when a message was Sent and Seen, and by how many in a group.
- Filter by Unread, search conversations, and jump to the latest when new messages arrive.
The notification bell
The bell in the top bar collects everything new, grouped into Today, Yesterday, This week and Earlier. Mark all as read and Clear read notifications keep it tidy. You’ll be notified about things like:
| For students | For teachers |
|---|---|
| New homework, new quizzes | Homework turned in (and turned in late) |
| Homework due in less than 24 hours | A reply marked as the answer in a discussion |
| Homework and quizzes graded, work returned | |
| Added to a course | |
| Meetings scheduled, moved, starting, cancelled, reminders | |
| A live quiz started, with its code | |
| Announcements, payment reminders |
Important notifications can also arrive by email. For students, announcements, grades and messages are bundled into one email a day, so inboxes don’t fill up.
Choose what you get
Open Account › Notifications:
- In-app notifications: pop-ups when there’s new activity.
- Email notifications: emails for important notifications.
Turning emails off also stops announcement and payment reminder emails; you’ll still see them in the app.
Not getting emails?
Check your spam or promotions folder, and add Kelasi to your contacts. If emails bounce, Kelasi stops sending to that address; ask your admin to check the address on your account. See troubleshooting.
