Kelasi keeps its vocabulary small. This page explains each word once, so the rest of the docs can use it without stopping.

Organizations and people

Organization

The home for your classes: a school, a tutoring center or one private tutor. Billing pages sometimes call it your space. One account can belong to several organizations and switch between them from the name in the top bar.

Owner

The person who created the organization. The owner is an admin and is the only one who can choose a plan or delete the organization.

Roles

Everyone in an organization has one role: admin, staff, teacher or student. The role decides which tabs they see and what they can change. See roles and permissions.

Paused member

Someone whose access is switched off for a while, for example during a term break, without removing them. Their work and grades stay.

Courses

Course (also called a class)

A group of students, one or more teachers, and everything they learn together: materials, assignments, quizzes, meetings and discussions.

Lead teacher and assistants

Each course has one lead teacher who owns it. Assistants can edit everything in it too. Admins choose the team. See creating and running courses.

Draft and published

A new course, material, assignment or quiz starts as a draft that only teachers and admins see. Publishing it shows it to students. An assignment can also be scheduled to publish on its own.

Self-paced or study plan

How students move through a course. Self-paced opens everything at once. A study plan unlocks content week by week. See weekly study plans.

Sky

The color of a course, shown on its card and behind its pages. Organizations have a color too, shown as an orb next to their name.

Ended course

A course past its end date. It stays readable, and it no longer counts toward active courses or seats.

Work and grades

Assignment

Work students hand in as files, photos, text or a link, which a teacher grades. See assignments and rubrics.

Quiz

Questions students answer in the app. There are five kinds: practice, quiz, tryout, exam and live. See creating quizzes.

Question bank

Questions saved once for the whole organization and reused in any quiz. Adding a bank question to a quiz makes a copy, so later edits in the bank don’t change quizzes students already took. See question bank and import.

Rubric

A set of criteria with levels and points used to grade an assignment the same way for every student.

Gradebook

Every grade from every course in one place, filled in on its own as work is graded. See the gradebook.

Term

A period such as a semester. Report cards are made per term and count only work due during it.

Joining

Invitation

A personal link sent to one email address, valid for 7 days. It can be emailed by Kelasi or shared by you.

Join code

One code for the whole organization. Students who use it join the organization, not a class.

Class link

A link and QR code for one course. Students who open it sign up and land straight in that class. A class link can have a price, which makes it a paid class link. See class links and paid classes.

Payment proof

The photo or PDF a student uploads after paying for a paid class link or a paid course in Discover. An admin, staff member or the course’s teacher approves or turns it down.

Plans and limits

Plan

What your organization pays for: Gratis, Plus, Pro or Institution. See plans, seats and billing.

Seat

One student in one course that is still running. A student in Math and Physics uses two seats.

Total6seats from 3 students
A seat is one student in one course that is still running. Bills use the highest count in the month. The Institution plan counts active students instead of seats.
AI run

One click of Generate in the AI question generator, writing a batch of questions. Each plan includes a number of runs a month, and you can buy more.
